In 2018, the final of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM ICPC) took place from 15 April to 20 April in Beijing, the capital city of China, and the University of Latvia was represented by a team – Nikita Larka, Vladislav Kļevickis, Kristaps Čivkulis and coaches prof. Guntis Arnicāns and Kamil Khadiev.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is the oldest and most prestigious academic programming competition in the world. The competition took place for the 42nd year, and this year it was attended by 49,935 participants, representing 3,098 universities from 111 countries. The quarter-finals and semi-finals of the competition take place in the regions of all inhabited continents, while about 100 of the world's strongest teams go to the final competition. This year, the 140 strongest student teams from around the world participated in the final.
