In 2017, the final of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM ICPC) took place from 20 May to 25 May in Rapid City, South Dakota, the USA, and the University of Latvia was represented by Andrejs Kuzņecovs, Pēteris Pakalns, Aleksejs Zajakins and coaches prof. Guntis Arnicāns and Jevgēnijs Vihrovs.

The participation of the UL student teams in the competition is supported by: Exigen Services Latvia, Datakom, VISMA group companies in Latvia, American Latvians representing "Friends of the University of Latvia" (501(c)(3) charity) – Honorary Member of the University of Latvia Roberts Blumbergs, and the Honorary Consul of Latvia in Michigan Andris Lācis. Donations are administered by the University of Latvia Foundation.
